The Stream is Flowing

Welcome to the reflections of Pastor Greg Ruble, lead pastor for Living Streams Community Church. These are posts of some random thoughts, prayers and experiences from my journey as our family serves God in this new church. If you live in the McCordsville/Mt.comfort area and don't have a church home, come worship with us. We'd love to see you in the Stream!

In the Meantime

I have let a month go by without posting. There's too much that has happened to talk about it all. We had a great vision meeting on April 19 and are looking forward to the next one on May 10. We've added a couple new families to the Stream and are still looking for meeting space in the Mt. Comfort area. In the meantime, we are in the meantime!

Every member of my family is struggling with the meantime. What is that? It's the time between now and the day this new church plant sprouts through the ground and starts it's visible growth to the world. Right now, we are growing roots, praying and gaining strength. My son Garrett's (13) recent struggle brought all this to mind. As he waits for the new church to start, it's hard to stay connected and work at the relationships in the old church. It's not an easy place for an 8th grader to be. The middle school years are hard enough on a person and now Dad is taking him away from his friends. I covet your prayers for him and the rest of my kids (Casey 16, Gavin 10, Maisy 7 and Lucy 5 mo.) as they are packed into the canoe to float on this Stream with Mom and Dad. I just continue to tell him, to trust that God is bringing us to a new place and we are not sure what that will look like but we have to trust that it will be good. In the meantime, we need to enjoy the present, our friends and ministry as we wait for things to develop.

Isn' that where we all are? We are waiting for a new heaven and new earth. We are aliens and strangers in a foreign land and we wait for Jesus to return to make all things new. 1 Cor 13:12 says, "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." NIV While we look forward to the future; a new church, a new heaven, a new earth, we are to enjoy the journey and trust in the Lord. Blessings!

Hi Pastor Greg,
My name is Linda Zwick, I am Mike Dickey's mom. I just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my prayers. Faith is believing in things unseen and while I realize that is sometimes a difficult thing to do, He gives us renewed faith and wisdom for each step into the unknown. Maybe it is best if we all see with our spiritual eyes and not our physical eyes; that way we can envision Him better.
God will bless you and I will keep you in my prayers!
In Christ,
Linda

Part of what is exciting about a canoe is that it is impossible to know what is under the surface of the river. But when it comes to my life, I find it best to let God be in the back of my canoe. He can steer a lot better than I can! I can't wait to finish this term at Rose and come home to Living Streams Community Church!

Hi Pastor Greg,

We are praying for you, Lori and your dear family. We can imagine, to some extent, what your youngsters are experiencing since it was somewhat difficult for our 13 year old son when we moved just 3 blocks away from his best friend (next door) a few years back!! He did, however, adjust pretty quickly.
Change is a challenge for me and most people. God will bless your family, each of you, in a very Special Way, I am sure!
Margaret and I have had a challenging couple of weeks healthwise, still some issues to work and pray through over the next few weeks.
But trusting God for His Provision!
We will begin to focus a bit more on Garrett and Casey for God's peace to gently move them forward in this leap of FAITH.

In Jesus' Name,

Randy G.
